WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHAT YOU CAN DO

The main obstacle to increasing the supply of organs for transplant is the National Organ Transplant Act of 1984. It must be reformed if more people who need organ transplants are to have a chance of getting them.

Here are some things you can do:

Write to Rep. Matt Cartwright expressing support for the Organ Donor Clarification Act that he introduced in the previous Congress, and tell him you hope he reintroduces the bill or one like it.

Write to your member of Congress and senators expressing support for reform of the provisions of the National Organ Transplant Act of 1984 that prohibit “valuable compensation” for donors.
